Description
To maintain an active insurance license in Washington, D.C., resident producers are required to fulfill specific continuing education (CE) requirements every two years, as outlined by the D.C. Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB).
General CE Requirements:

Total Hours: 24 hours every two years

Ethics: 3 hours

Course Approval: All courses must be approved by the DISB.

Course Repetition: Courses cannot be repeated for credit within the same two-year license term.

Carryover Credits: Excess CE hours cannot be carried over to the next renewal cycle.

Annuity Products:

Training: A one-time 4-hour course approved by the DISB is required before selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuity products.

Training: A one-time 3-hour course on flood insurance is required during the first license renewal period for property and casualty producers.

Resident Title Insurance Producers (Non-Attorney): 16 CE hours

Non-Resident Title Insurance Producers: 4 hours of D.C.-specific CE credits
