Pre-Licensing Education Requirements:

  • General Lines (Life, Accident & Health, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines): No pre-licensing education required.

Licensing Process Overview:

  1. Meet Eligibility Requirements: Be at least 18 years old and a resident of South Dakota.

  2. Prepare for the Exam: Utilize exam prep courses to familiarize yourself with the exam content and format.

  3. Schedule and Pass the Exam: Register for the licensing exam through Pearson VUE at Pearson VUE – South Dakota Insurance. Bring one form of valid, non-expired ID that is government-issued, contains a current photo and your signature, with the name on the ID exactly matching the name on the exam registration.

  4. Apply for Your License: Submit your application via the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR): NIPR Licensing Center. The licensing fee is $25 plus a service fee.

Continuing Education Requirements:
