Montana Insurance CE Requirements:

• Resident and Non-Resident Producers, Adjusters, and Consultants:

  • License Term: 2 years.

  • CE Requirement: 24 hours of CE, including 3 hours of ethics and 1 hour of Montana legislative updates, every 2-year license term.

  • Course Repetition: Courses cannot be repeated for credit within the same license term.

• Annuity Best Interest Training:

  • Requirement: One-time 4-hour course approved by the Commissioner of Securities and Insurance (CSI) before selling annuity products.

• Flood Insurance Training:

  • Requirement: One-time 3-hour National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) training course before selling flood insurance.

• Long-Term Care (LTC) Training:

  • Initial Training: 8-hour course before selling LTC insurance.

  • Ongoing Training: 4-hour refresher course every 24 months.

• Viatical Settlement Brokers:

  • CE Requirement: Continuing education in the subjects of life insurance, viaticals, and/or ethics.

Additional Information:

• License Renewal: CE requirements must be completed by the license expiration date to maintain a valid insurance license.

• Course Completion Reporting: CE course completions are reported directly to the CSI by the course provider.
