Embarking on a career in the Georgia insurance industry? The Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner mandates specific pre-licensing education requirements for prospective insurance agents. Completing a structured exam prep course is essential to enhance your chances of passing the licensing exam on your first try.

Pre-Licensing Education Requirements:

For each line of authority, candidates must complete:

• Life – 20 hours

• Accident & Sickness – 20 hours

• Life, Accident & Sickness – 40 hours

• Property – 20 hours

• Casualty – 20 hours

• Property & Casualty – 40 hours

• Personal Lines – 20 hours

• Variable Products – 8 hours (in addition to Life)

Note: Applicants who hold certain professional designations, such as CLU®, FLMI, CPCU®, CIC, CISR, CRM, or possess a college degree in insurance, may be eligible for exemptions from pre-licensing education and examination requirements.

Steps to Obtain Your Georgia Insurance License:

1. Complete Pre-Licensing Education: Enroll in and complete the required courses for your desired line(s) of authority.

2. Pass the Licensing Exam: Schedule and pass the state licensing exam administered by Pearson VUE.

3. Submit Fingerprints: Complete the fingerprinting process as required for background checks.

4. Apply for Your License: Submit your application through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) or Sircon.

5. Complete Citizenship Affidavit: Submit a notarized Citizenship Affidavit Form (GID-276-EN) attesting to either United States citizenship or lawful presence.
