South Dakota Insurance CEFrom the Black Hills to Pierre, South Dakota Insurance Agents and Producers holding licenses in multiple lines (L&H-P&C, Crop/Hail-P&C-L&H) are required to complete 20 hours of South Dakota Insurance CE every 2 years. South Dakota Insurance Agents who hold only one line (L&H, P&C, Crop/Hail-P&C or L&H, Farm Mutual, Personal Lines) of Insurance are required to complete 10 hours of Insurance CE every 2 years. South Dakota Insurance Agents licensed only in Crop/Hail are required to complete 4 hours of CE every 2 years.

Additional South Dakota Insurance Continuing Education Requirements:

  • Long Term Care Partnership - In South Dakota, Insurance Agents who sell LTC policies are required to complete 8 hours of initial LTC training followed by 4 hours of ongoing LTC training every 2 years thereafter.
  • Flood Training - South Dakota Insurance Agents who sell Flood Insurance are required to complete a one-time 3 hour flood training course.
  • Licensees are not allowed to repeat CE courses within a 2 year period.

South Dakota Insurance Continuing Education Courses are reported automatically to State Based Systems (SBS) at course completion.
